Statistics of variable loads in the 2010/2016 winter season

Data describing the MEASURED deflections of roof structure under variable load in the facilities, in which WiSeNe® Systems are installed, in the winter season 2010 - 2016 are collected in the Table. Although the winter 2012/2013 was long, with significant snowfalls, only one time in one building the threshold L3 was exceeded and on this basis has been made snow removal from the roof. In the remaining objects snow removal was not performed. These data show the validity of the WiSeNe® System’s installation and strongly support the thesis that investment in WiSeNe® System returns in a short time.

L1 - the first threshold value, by default equal to 30% of the permissible value; the occurrence of a significant variable load of structure;The permissible deflection or vertical displacement value under variable load and up to four threshold values – in percents of permissible value - are determined in the WiSeNe® System for each Monitoring Point. They allow to pursue a multi-stage warning system about detected threats giving time to prepare countermeasures. Crossing each threshold is signaled to users as a risk / need of different rank - the need for inspection, the need to relieve the roof, such as removing snow, and finally - the need to evacuate the object. The threshold values have the following default values and standard meanings in the system:

L2 - the second threshold value, by default equal to 50 % of the permissible value; the occurrence of a significant probability of the state in which it will be necessary to take countermeasure to prevent structure overloading;

L3 - the third threshold value, by default equal to 70 % of the permissible value; a high probability of occurrence of construction overloading, meaning the need to start preventive action, such as snow removal;

L4 - the fourth threshold value, by default equal to 95 % of the permissible value; a very high probability of occurrence of construction overloading, meaning the need for immediate, adequate to internal procedures, countermeasures.
